One of the largest energy technology research institutes in Poland and at the same time in Central Europe. The institute is a modern research and development centre under the Ministry of Climate and Environment.


The Institute’s activities cover a wide area of energy research: from expert work for the electricity sector to the most advanced scientific research of future energy generation technologies, such as fuel cells, clean coal technologies and renewable energy sources. The Institute’s strengths are its experienced scientific and engineering staff and its modern, often unique laboratory facilities.


The Institute’s scientific teams actively participate in the implementation of international research projects of the Framework Programmes, the Coal and Steel Research Fund Programme and other European Union programmes. The Institute of Energy also carries out a number of national projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the National Centre for Research and Development and implementation work for industry.


The institute offers cooperation in the creation and implementation of new projects in the scope of development of energy technologies as well as high-quality expertise, research and technical analysis for the energy sector.


The Energy Institute is a member of the Executive Committee of the European Energy Research Alliance EERA.
